UChicago men’s soccer team wins 1-0 in Double OT

Thanks to two overtime periods on Sunday afternoon, the University of Chicago men’s soccer team earned a 1-0 shutout victory over New York University on the road.

According to UChicago Athletics, the 5th ranked Maroons scored on a last minute goal by Jorge Branco at the 106:45 mark, as the team improved to 8-1-4 on the season.

Branco stayed active in double OT, taking all three of his shots during that time.

In addition to his three shot attempts, first-year forward Kameron Bloye crossed the ball to Branco as the sophomore midfielder came through with the game-winner.

With Branco providing the offense, the Maroons defense would record its fifth-straight shutout and seventh of the season overall, as junior goalkeeper Aaron Katsimpalis made eight stops during the game. is second most of the season.

Sunday’s double overtime game marked the sixth time the team has played in double overtime match this season.
