West Side Leadership Academy Band students earn medals at ISSMA Competition

In a resounding showcase of talent and dedication, the West Side Leadership Academy Band students, led by director DeAndre Teamer, Sr., made their mark at the renowned Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) competition recently held at Munster High School. Of the 19 participants, WSLA garnered an impressive total of 21 Gold medals and two Silver, further showcasing their unwavering commitment to the arts. 

“This is not just an achievement for our district, but for every scholar who put their heart into their performance,” said Director of the Performing Arts, Mark Spencer. 

The students will advance to the next round of competition later this month.
