The “Summer Enrichment for Learning” Program at St. John June 19

Gary youth, ages 6-14 may enroll in the 5-week “Summer Enrichment for Learning” Program, from June 19 to July 20, 2017 at the St. John Lutheran Church, 10th Ave. and Taft Street in Gary. All classes are free. They can chose four (4) “free classes in art and crafts, drawing, violin, drums, photography, Girls’ Talk, Boys’ Talk, Girls Scouts, Introduction to Science, Taekwondo martial arts, trumpet, trombone, clarinet, oral speaking, creative writing, social living skills, cello, flute and African American and Gary history. Students must take one hour of daily math and reading skills review. The Gary Youth Services Bureau at no cost will provide daily lunch.

The youth from outside Gary or visiting for the summer may also enroll for a weekly fee of $40 or daily fee of $10. Day cares, camps, churches or other community programs, may also enroll their student groups for a weekly fee. The program and lunch are from 9 a.m.-12: 30 p.m., Monday –Thursday.

Parents may register their children at St. John, on June 19, or pre-register by calling or texting (219) 902-0524 or emailing [email protected] to receive the pre-application. Call Naomi Millender (219-902-0524), director, to register students at your school or church before June 19. The Gary Historical and Cultural Society, Inc. sponsors this program each year.
