Stand-Up Comedian and Social Influencer, Barry Brewer Debuts New Stand-Up Comedy Film To Help Raise Funds for Chicago Public and Charter School Systems

Stand-up comedian, actor, and social media sensation Barry Brewer, and Comedy Dynamics announced that Barry Brewer’s  newest comedy special titled, “Chicago, I’m Home,” will be released on major streaming outlets on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at 12 a.m. midnight. “Chicago, I’m Home” is a one-hour stand-up comedy special that invites viewers from all across America to take a look inside Barry Brewer’s lenses, as he tells the narrative about how he grew up on the South Side of Chicago.

Brewer’s style, innate wit and the ability to connect with his audience make him an unstoppable comedic force. Prepare to laugh profusely, hold on to the side of your stomach, burst out in tears and stomp your feet after seeing “Chicago, I’m Home.” From sharing the history about his mom, to going down memory lane with his childhood friends, to walking through his upbringing and survival in Englewood (known to be one of Chicago’s roughest neighborhoods), Brewer becomes completely transparent about how growing up on the South Side of Chicago shaped him into the successful comedian and actor he is today.

“I’m so excited for the world to see me in action and honored to have been able to do it where it all began. “Chicago, I’m home,” says Brewer.

In addition to the release of his stand-up special debut, Barry’s goal is to donate $1 million to Chicago Public and Charter Schools,  which will include partner and official sponsor, Walter H. Dyett for the Arts, along with CICS Longwood School. He is also teaming with Walter H. Dyett for the Arts to host a free watch party, debuting his one-hour stand-up special and inviting families across the Chicago(land) area to join him on the laughs. The Chicago, I’m HomeViewing Party will be held on Friday, February 22, at 7:00 p.m. This event will entail a short stand-up comedy performance, introducing the showing of Chicago, I’m Home, followed by a Q&A session at the end.

“I had an opportunity to see the live taping of “Chicago, I’m Home.” What struck me most was Barry’s ability to tell stories and paint pictures, to which we could all relate,” says Beulah McLoyd, Principal at Walter H. Dyett High School for the Arts. “His humor and wit are second-to-none, and this special promises to have you laughing uncontrollably. But more importantly, Barry’s desire to make a difference by giving back to his hometown, specifically the school system, is admirable. We are proud to partner with him in this endeavor.”

“Being born and raised on the South Side of Chicago and being a product of the Chicago Public School System, I personally know what it’s like to be offered basic programs and be underserved as a student. That is why I am making it my mission to give back to CPS, so we can have better programs to further educate our children, expand their interest in different professions and keep them off the streets. My hope is that the money we donate can help fund the supplies teachers need to help provide a better experience for our youth.”
