Thanks for the memories!
J’s Breakfast Club owner Joslyn Kelly and her team welcomed scores of customers on the official last day of operation at 3669 Broadway in Gary. In January 2023, the newly built restaurant will open 10 blocks away, at 2601 Broadway.
“What a journey it has been, and it’s far from over,” said Kelly.
“There have been a lot of laughs, tears and great memories made in this space, and now we are moving to our new building where we will continue the tradition of doing what we love for the people we love.”
Customers poured into the “Sunset Celebration,” hugging, laughing, dancing and, of course, eating.
Among the guests was Indiana State Senator Eddie Melton who placed his usual order of salmon croquettes. Former Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson popped in to order her fav, a turkey burger will all the fixings. Kelly paused to thank everyone for their support while giving a few teasers about the new restaurant.
“Because of your support since we started on Grant Street seven years ago, we have been able to grow together,” said Kelly. “I can’t wait to cut the ribbon on what will be an amazing next chapter. We did it!”
Kelly went on to acknowledge her staff, spouse, family, vendors and all who have shown support.
The new facility will boast a meeting a room, an enhanced menu, weekend brunches and more. The DJ played Donna Summer’s “Last Dance” as patrons cheered and partied ’til doors officially closed at 3:00 p.m.
“We’ll see you down the street in 2023,” added a joyous Kelly.
