South Side Alderman announces reward in the shooting death of local artist

Alderman David Moore will join neighbors, Simeon High School alumni and friends of Michael Anderson to announce a $4,000 reward for information about the 59-year-old man’s death earlier this week.

Moore, who also is a graduate of Simeon, knew Anderson both personally and professionally. The 17th Ward alderman says he was shocked to learn the local mural artist was killed during an apparent robbery attempt. The Marquette Park man lived in the neighborhood for years and neighbors say they always saw him coming and going to work.

Moore says Simeon H.S. alumni are a close knit group and they want to do whatever it takes to find out more information about the shooting death of Anderson. The news conference will take place on Saturday, November 19 at 12 p.m., in front of Anderson’s home in the 6600 block of South Washtenaw Avenue.
