Ross Township Trustee’s Office offers aid to displaced victims of apartment fire

On Saturday, January 13, 2024, residents of Meadowlane Apartments at 5370 Connecticut St. were displaced as a result of a fire. Fire departments from Merrillville, Gary and Crown Point were dispatched to the scene.

The Ross Township Trustee’s Office assisted residents by providing transportation to the Dean & Barbara White Community Center, which will serve as a temporary shelter. In addition, the American Red Cross is assisting impacted residents.

“We were deeply saddened to hear the unfortunate news of residents being displaced as a result of a fire,” said Ross Township Trustee Eric Blackmon, Sr. “This office is committed to being a resource and ally in assisting those affected by the fire.”
