Ramp connecting SB SR 912 to EB I-80/94 closed after spill

Although a major spill has caused the ramp connecting southbound State Road 912 (Cline Avenue) to eastbound I-80/94 to be closed, it does not create an environmentally hazardous danger to the public.

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) recently announced that the ramp will be closed for up to a week due to the spill. In occurred when a truck from a private company spilled a substance onto the roadway, creating a slick surface. A cleanup company contracted by that company has reported to the scene and has started the cleanup process.

Motorists may still travel both northbound and southbound on Cline Avenue and can even use the ramp connecting southbound Cline Avenue to westbound I-80/94. Those wishing to travel eastbound on I-80/94 should exit westbound on I-94, using southbound U.S. 41 (Indianapolis Boulevard) to turn around and access eastbound I-80/94.

Drivers in Northwest Indiana can monitor road closures, road conditions, and traffic alerts at any time via the District’s social media channels: www.Facebook.com/INDOTNorthwest or Twitter @INDOTNorthwest. Or visit http://www.trafficwise.in.gov for INDOT’s Traffic Wise Traveler Information Service.
