Black NFL players comprise a majority of professional athletes making a living in the league. As a result, it’s easy to assume that they should have no trouble rejecting the new NFL policy requiring them to stand for the national anthem at games.
To those who ask:
“If over 70% of NFL players are black men, shouldn’t all of them just boycott/go on strike until their dignity and First Amendment rights are restored?”
YOU’RE LOOKING AT THE WRONG METRIC
It’s not black men as a percentage of current NFL players. It’s black men as a percentage of all men (regardless of race) who would take a job as an NFL player if they could. For every spot on an NFL roster, there are dozens of people who would gladly replace black NFL players who chose to boycott/strike.
