MWRD announces science fair winner

The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) announced that a Chicago area Science Fair winner from the Beverly/Morgan Park community is Briana Edwards, who is an 8th grader at  CICS Longwood Chicago International Charter School.

The Science Fair winners were honored during the recent “A Celebration of STEM,”  designed by MWRD to encourage environmental sciences education and provide students with access to greater understanding of the important work achieved at MWRD. The students were congratulated and acknowledged by MWRD Commissioners with a Superior Science Project Certificate and provided lunch, a MWRD goody bag and a guided tour of the Stickney Water Reclamation Plant.

“We congratulate the students on their award-winning research and hope during this learning experience at MWRD they have gained a greater interest in environmental sciences, the fascinating work of treating wastewater and managing stormwater, and will consider MWRD for an internship opportunity in the future,” said MWRD President Kari K. Steele.
