Methodist Hospitals announces annual employee award winners

National Hospital Week is celebrated in hospitals throughout the United States each year during May to honor the women and men who support the health and wellbeing of their communities with dedication and compassionate care.  During Hospital Week 2022, Methodist Hospitals presented its annual Humanitarian, Leader, Employee and Safety Star of the Year awards to team members who went above and beyond in support of the hospitals’ mission to provide high quality healthcare to all those in need.  “These award winners truly demonstrate the ‘One Methodist’ spirit, and we thank them for their exceptional performance and dedication to our community,” said Matthew Doyle, President & CEO of Methodist Hospitals.

Humanitarian of the Year – Cynthia Spencer, MSW/LSW, Oncology Institute Social Worker

The Humanitarian of the Year award recognizes a Methodist Hospitals’ employee who, apart from excellent performance at work, has also made a great impact on the lives of people in the communities we serve. This award is meant to encourage Methodist employees to go out and make a difference in the world around us.

Leader of the Year – Julie Kerns, RN, Assistant Vice President, Patient Care Services

The Leader of the Year Award recognizes a leader judged by their peers to embody the values, mission, vision and Model of Care and Conduct of Methodist Hospitals, including our I-Care Values of integrity, compassion, accountability, respect and excellence.

Employee of the Year – Lynette, Andrews, Health Unit Partner

The Employee of the Year Award recognizes an employee for their outstanding contributions, accomplishments and behavior that exemplifies the Methodist Model of Care and Conduct.

Safety Star of the Year – Tracy Patterson, Food Services Associate

The Safety Star of the Year recognizes an employee who models safety behavior and has made a major contribution to improving safety for our patients and staff by reducing errors and harm.
