This upcoming Thursday, July 25th at 12 pm, one of the Central Parks Five victims Korey Wise will visit Chicago’s Woodlawn neighorhood for a discussion hosted by Pastor Corey Brooks. Of the Central Park Five, Wise is the oldest and received the most time in jail after he was wrongfully-convicted for beating and raping a white female jogger in New York’s Central Park in 1989. He was questioned by police without his parents and tried as an adult before he was convicted. After serving a horrific twelve years behind bars, Korey was exonerated but the experience changed him forever. He is now a speaker and activist. This Thursday, meet this incredible man and hear his amazing journey at Project H.O.O.D, 6330 S. King Drive. Korey will join Pastor Brooks for a screening and discussion of Part 1 of the critically-acclaimed Netflix miniseries, “When They See Us.” There will be free parking and a pizza lunch will be served during the film and discussion at 12pm.
