It’s been almost six months since J’s Breakfast Club moved into a larger, more accommodating space in Gary’s Glen Park section (3669 Broadway). As a result, business has increased and so has the interest for special events and live entertainment. Restaurant owner Joslyn Kelly has answered the call. Known for its weekly “Saturday Small Business Spotlight” and “Soul Food Sundays,” J’s Breakfast Club will feature an expansion of these programs throughout the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend.
“Having a larger space has afforded us to provide some remarkable customer experiences,” said Kelly, a Gary native. “We now host all types of events from retirement parties and book signings, to baby showers and fashion shows.”
The trendy breakfast spot also caters and looks forward to placing Thanksgiving turkeys with all the fixings on the tables of dozens of region residents this holiday.
Patrons can kick off Black Friday November 24th with a $1.99 pancake breakfast followed by a day filled with games – Uno, Monopoly, Chess, Checkers and spades to name a few. Fish and spaghetti dinners will be on the menu as well as a Crab Boil from 5pm – 8pm with live entertainment by local songstress Taylor Iman.
“We thought having games for our customers to play would add to the fun environment that we are always trying to create,” said Kelly. “Adding the seafood is a special treat since crab legs and boiled shrimp are not on our traditional menu.”
Thanks to the strong backing of small business owners across the country, the Saturday after Thanksgiving has earned the designation of Small Business Saturday, where shoppers are encouraged to spend their dollars with small businesses. J’s Breakfast Club will embrace this trend with its first ever Small Business Spotlight Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, November 25th. More than a dozen local vendors will showcase their products and services at J’s from 9am – 1pm.
“We are thrilled to bring so many small businesses under one roof,” Kelly commented. “We recognize the importance of supporting one another so that all of our businesses continue to thrive and our economy grows.”
The holiday weekend will conclude with the increasingly popular Soul Food Sunday on November 26th. From 11am – 5pm, scrumptious soul food entrees are offered via dine-in or carryout with live entertainment from 2pm – 4pm by Saxophonist Michael Turner.
“No sooner than we opened our doors, the community was there to support us, and we are grateful,” said Kelly. “Next weekend, we are going to show them just how thankful we are.”
