Hospital apologizes after having mother arrested while trying to see dying son

A family in York is grieving the shooting death of 18-year-old Nylik Moore. It’s what happened at York Hospital shortly after the shooting that outraged family and friends.

Family of Nylik Moore wanted to see him inside the hospital after he was shot on Maple Street in York, but officers told Nylik’s mother she could not come in. That news led to an explosive confrontation between family and friends and police in the parking lot.

“My adrenaline is pumping and I want in, I want to be able to hold my son’s hand. I want to be able to say ‘Nylik hold on’ or something and I got robbed from that. I didn’t get that chance and that’s all I wanted to do was identify the body,” said Cheirha Rankins, Nylik’s mother.
