Harlem Fine Arts Show at the state-of-the-art Malcom X College

The Harlem Fine Arts Show (HFAS) opens to the public this weekend at the state-of-the-art $251M Malcom X College (MXC), for its four-day traveling exhibition and sale of contemporary paintings, sculpture and photography. It is the largest of its kind featuring art from the African Diaspora.

The exhibition is open to collectors, art enthusiasts, educators, and professionals and has as its theme, “Fine Art and the Art of Healing.” The Opening Night Gala Reception on Thursday, November 16 will be hosted by the North Shore (IL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated. There will also be a recognition of 22 medical professionals entitled “A Salute to African Americans in Medicine.”

HFAS PROGRAM SCHEDULE 11 12 17B7 1Special guest for this year’s show will be Ilyasah Shabazz, daughter of Malcom X. The author, activist and children’s advocate will do a ribbon cutting to open the show, along with President David Sanders. This is Shabazz’s first visit to her father’s namesake institution.
