Gary, Indiana native, actor and comedian Buddy Lewis has made coming home a regular thing. The Chicago Own’s Comedy Series he has been hosting each month has taken off. On July 2nd, the comedy line-up will feature seasoned favorites Leon Rodgers, Baldhead Phillips and Brad Sanders aka Tyrone On The Phone at ETA Theater, 7558 S. South Chicago Ave. in Chicago. Doors open at 7:00 p.m., and show time is 8:00 p.m.

“Chicago has so much talent, so it has been pretty easy to create shows that will draw a crowd and have the people laughing non-stop,” said Lewis, who rolled out the first show back in March.

The pandemic caused the ETA Theater to close for two years, so Lewis is part of the effort to resurrect the stage with diverse talent and entertainment offerings.

“We are committed to delivering an unforgettable experience for our veteran tickets holders and those who are just discovering us,” said ETA Theater Executive Director Kenya Thomas. “We also feature theatrical courses, youth programs and special events.”

Currently, the Collegiate Showcase Tour is running at the ETA Theater. The three-part series of dramatic performances started in May and conclude in August. Full details are available on the website at https://www.etacreativearts.org.

“The ETA theater is a widely-known venue that has been featuring Black talent for more than 50 years, giving artists like me a platform to showcase our talents,” said Lewis. “I am honored to contribute content to an already impressive line-up of performances.”

Tickets to the comedy show are $30. VIP packages are also available, and parking is free. Early arrival is encouraged.
