Final services for former Chicagoan will be held in Flint, Michigan

Funeral Services for James C. (Ricky) Smith, formerly of Chicago, are to be held Saturday, July 9 at the Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church in Flint, Michigan.

Rocky was born on July 23, 1953 to the union of Lonnie Smith and Marie Lindsey in Crossett, Arkansas. In 1955, at the age of two Rickey moved to Chicago with his parents. Both parents preceded him in death.

His early education included Forrestville Elementary School and Wendell Phillips High School. He enjoyed baseball and pool as his favorite pastime.

While in Chicago he was an employee at Cleaning and Sparkle Company, a cleaning company, RODAI Boat Company, Spiegel Catalog Warehouse and Premium Welding Company. He also was a member of True Fellowship M.B. Church, under the leadership of Rev. J.R. Hardy.

He moved to Flint, Michigan in the early 2000s where he met and fell in love with Belinda. In 2002 they were married.

Ricky was a member of Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church in Flint, where he served as a Deacon.

Survivors include his wife, Belinda; daughter, Patricia Davis of Benton Harbor, MI; four sisters, Iola Darling, Detroit, MI; Bernice Ellerbee, Chicago, IL; Lonnie Hardison, Camden, AR; and Glenda Barnes of Chicago; one brother, Charles Smith of Chicago; a special aunt, Annie Mae Lindsey of Chicago, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
