In celebration of the power and achievements Black girls everywhere, ESSENCE.com has launched ‘Black Girl Magic.’ Presented by Walmart, this original six-part docuseries captures the poignant stories and diverse lifestyles of six young women from across the country who epitomize Black excellence.

Under the tagline of “6 Girls. 6 Stories. 6 Dreams,” ‘Black Girl Magic‘ will roll out over the course of 2016 with each new episode profiling a notable young woman of color and being helmed by a different up-and-coming Black female director. Between every episode there will be supplemental bonus footage and director profiles, as well as regular highlights of #BlackGirlMagic.

Below is a trailer for the first episode, which focuses on 18-year-old activist Sage Adams and is directed by Laurie Thomas. For more on this amazing new series and to check out the first full episode please visit Essence.com/BlackGirlMagic.
