Early voting in downtown Chicago will reopen on Wednesday, February 21 at 9:00 AM

Early Voting for the March 19, 2024 Presidential Primary Election in Downtown Chicago will reopen at the Supersite (191 N. Clark) and Board Offices (69 W. Washington, 6th Floor) on Wednesday, February 21 at 9:00 am.

Early Voting opened in Downtown Chicago on Thursday, February 15, but was paused late on Friday, February 16 due to a court order from the Appellate Court of Illinois.

On February 5, 2024, the Appellate Court entered a Stay of Enforcement to keep the name of Ashonta C. Rice, Candidate for Judge of the Circuit Court (Vacancy of Sullivan), on the Democratic Party ballot.

On Friday, February 16, 2024, the Appellate Court lifted that Stay of Enforcement and confirmed the candidate’s name be removed from the ballot.

To comply with this court order and with election code, the Chicago Board of Elections needed to reprogram and proof the ballots for all Early Voting touchscreen machines to reflect this change.

Democratic Vote By Mail ballots for the March 19, 2024 Primary Election have not yet been mailed to Chicago voters. Those ballots are being reprinted and will be mailed as soon as possible.
