Deep freeze forces Chicago Public Schools to suspend Tuesday activities

In light of a severe wind chill warning from the National Weather Service, Chicago Public Schools has made the call to cancel all after-school and class activities slated for Tuesday, January 16, 2024. The warning, signaling potentially unsafe weather conditions, is anticipated to remain in effect until Wednesday morning.

This move, which includes the suspension of both in-person and extracurricular activities, is a precautionary step taken to ensure the safety of students and staff amid the extreme cold temperatures and wind chills.

While no plans for remote learning sessions are currently in place for the affected day, school officials aim to resume regular operations on Wednesday, January 17, contingent on a reassessment of the prevailing weather conditions.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to stay informed about updates from the school district as the situation unfolds.
