Congressman Frank J. Mrvan announced the following staff transitions in his Congressional offices.
Congressman Mrvan stated, “Throughout my time as a Member of Congress and previously as a Township Trustee, I understand the importance of having dedicated staff committed to tireless advocacy, whether they are responding to a personal inquiry or promoting economic growth and transformational projects that benefit everyone in our environs. I am tremendously grateful to have such staff members today who bring the institutional knowledge and passions of both Congressman Visclosky’s office and the North Township Trustee office. We look forward to continuing to have an open door, be accessible and present in our communities, and solve problems and bring people together to create more educational and economic opportunities for everyone.”
Mr. Kevin Spicer will transition from Deputy Chief of Staff to Chief of Staff, and be based in the Congressman’s Washington, D.C. office. Originally from Schererville and a graduate of Lake Central High School, Mr. Spicer served in the Peace Corps in Mauritania prior to handling the steel and appropriations portfolios in Congressman Visclosky’s office beginning in 2005. He graduated from Indiana University Bloomington with degrees in Economics and Cognitive Science, and has a Master in Public Policy degree from Georgetown’s McCourt School of Public Policy.
In the Merrillville office, Mr. Brett Bierman will transition from Outreach Coordinator to District Director. Mr. Bierman initially started serving in 2008 with Congressman Mrvan when he was North Township Trustee and was Director of the Park and Recreation at Wicker Memorial Park. Mr. Bierman graduated from Griffith High School, has a Public Management degree from Indiana University Northwest, and resides in Crown Point with his two children.
Additionally, Ms. Renee Ramos will serve as Congressional Relations Manager in the Merrillville office. In 2013, during a particularly difficult time in their lives, the Ramos family required support from the North Township Trustee office. After facing and overcoming that adversity, she dedicated her career to advocacy and public service, and started working with Frank for the trustee office in 2015. Previously, Ms. Ramos was employed in the financial sector, and she also is a graduate of Bishop Noll, studied Elementary Education at Purdue Northwest, and currently resides in East Chicago with her four children.
Further, Ms. Drew Ficociello will transition from Press Assistant to Press Secretary. Ms. Ficociello grew up in the Indianapolis region and started in Congressman Mrvan’s office in 2021. She has a degree in Public Affairs from Indiana University Bloomington and has a master’s degree from George Washington University’s School of Political Management.
Former Chief of Staff Mark Lopez will transition to Senior Advisor. Since joining Indiana’s First Congressional District office in the summer of 1996, Mr. Lopez has served in a variety of positions in Merrillville and Washington, D.C. Mr. Lopez will continue his public service in this advisory position and provide counsel and support to the Congressional office.
