Kids Above All honored Comcast Corporation at its Annual Celebration Dinner on November 9, 2023, with the 2023 Lucy Rider Meyer Humanitarian Award. This recognition highlights the work Comcast does to make a difference in the community, as well as its continued investment in increasing digital equity for under-resourced children and families in the Chicago area.

As part of Comcast’s commitment to digital equity, the company announced the donation of 50 new laptops that will increase access to digital tools for young people in the Kids Above All programs.

“Comcast’s generosity continues to transform the lives of our kids and families. This gift ensures our youth will have access to the resources and tools they need to help them complete their schoolwork, search for employment, or discover their passion, so they can have the best life possible,” said Dan Kotowski, President and CEO of Kids Above All.

“Kid’s Above All has changed the lives of more than 150,000 Chicago-area children,” said Carl Jones, Jr., Comcast’s Regional Vice President of Government and External Affairs. “Comcast is humbled and honored to receive this award and proud of the work we’ve done to help Kids Above All deliver on its mission to build better lives for children and families impacted by poverty, violence, and injustice.”

For many years, Comcast has been a leader in charitable investments aimed at creating a more equitable, connected society in the Chicago area and around the country. Project UP, the company’s $1 billion commitment to advancing digital equity, will help tens of millions of people access the tools and resources they need to succeed in our modern world. In addition, Comcast’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives have empowered, diverse-owned businesses across America, ensuring those businesses can thrive and make a positive difference in the community.

Since 2018, Comcast’s support of Kids Above All has provided early childhood learning, safe, supportive housing, and trauma-informed counseling to thousands of children and families in the Chicago area impacted by poverty, violence, and injustice. The company and its team members have stepped up for the children in Kids Above All’s programs through financial support of its annual fundraiser, as well as participation in their Holiday Gift and Back-to-School Backpack drives.

Kids Above All was established in 1894 with a mission to build better lives for children and families impacted by poverty, violence, and injustice. Kids Above All currently provides early childhood education, safe, supportive housing, and trauma-informed counseling services to young people and families in the city of Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.
