Chicago Ward early voting sites may have delayed openings on Monday, February 20th

The Illinois Appellate Court recently entered an order requiring the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners to restore the name of 28th Ward Candidate for Alderperson Shawn A. Walker to the ballot.

To comply with this court order, the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners must reprogram all Early Voting touchscreen machines to reflect this change, as well as rescan previously cast Early Voting ballots.

To cause the least amount of disruption for Chicago voters, this work will take place after Early Voting polls close today, Sunday, Feb. 19th at 4:00pm into the morning of Monday, February 20th.

Some Ward Early Voting Sites may have delayed openings on Monday, February 20th, and all Ward Early Voting sites will open as soon as possible.

The Board Supersite (191 N. Clark) and Board Offices (69 W. Washington) will remain open for regular hours tomorrow, Monday, February 20th, from 9:00am – 7:00pm.

Voters can check the open or closed status of Early Voting sites at https://www.chicagoelections.gov/en/early-voting.html or by calling Early Voting Election Central at 312.263.1394.

All previous votes cast by 28th Ward voters (Early Voting and Voting By Mail) will be processed and counted. 28th Ward voters who have already voted cannot and will not be required to vote again.

All new Vote By Mail ballots requested by 28th Ward voters will be sent with Mr. Walker’s name listed in the 28th Ward Alderperson’s race.
