Soul legend Aretha Franklin is gravely ill and multiple news reports say she is surrounded by family and friend at a Detroit hospital.
WDIV in Detroit first reported that it received the news from the family of the ‘Queen of Soul,’. No more details were provided from the news station.
Following her doctor’s orders, Franklin canceled planned concerts earlier this year to rest. Franklin, 76, last year, announced her plans to retire and open a nightclub in downtown Detroit.
