Applications now available for Gary Thanksgiving Basket Giveaway

The City of Gary, the Gary Common Council and the Gary For Life Ten Point Coalition will present the city’s Annual Thanksgiving Celebration and Food Giveaway on Monday, November 20, 2017. The Thanksgiving giveaway is presented each year to provide Gary families who apply, a wholesome meal on the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Applications for the Thanksgiving Baskets will be available to Gary residents through Monday, October 23, 2017. Applications may be completed at City Hall, 401 Broadway at the Citizen Service Desk, first floor from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Applications must be completed on site.

Those applying should have three (3) pieces of information: proof of residency; a photo ID and proof of income available when completing the application. Utility bills should match address on ID. All applications must be received in the Mayor’s Office of Constituent Services at City Hall on or before the October 23rd deadline.

The celebration and giveaway on Monday, November 20th will be held at the Diamond Center located at the US Steel Yard/Gary RailCats stadium. The Food Baskets will be distributed from 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. to those having applied during the application period. Doors open at 4:00 p.m.
