Despite a rainy evening, over 100 veteran women and their children packed Pearl’s Place at 39th and Michigan for an “all you can eat” buffet sponsored by mayoral candidate Bill Daley on Saturday, December 1, 2018.
The women veterans came from Chicago’s West and South Side by car, by public transportation, and by Midnight Star Tours, a private transportation company, sponsored by America’s Heroes Group. The charter bus service joined the festivities by raffling off a $50 cash gift to one of the riders on the bus.
The program consisted of the National Women Veterans United founder and president Rochelle Crump speaking to the members about the mission, goals and agenda, as well as their accomplishment for 2018 and their goals for 2019. The organization distributed gift cards from McDonald’s and the women veterans were given a gift bag.
Crump then introduced Veteran and Host of America’s Heroes Group radio personality Cliff Kelley. Kelley saluted the women veterans who represented every branch of service—Army, Navy, Air Force and the Marines. Kelley also introduced and thanked Bill Daley, who was the keynote speaker.
In his brief remarks Bill Daley honored and thanked the women veterans for their service, dedication and commitment to this country.
