NAACP Chicago far-south suburban branch announces 2019 Freedom Fund Dinner – May 17

The NAACP Chicago Far-South Suburban Branch (NAACP-CFSSB), a catalyst in promoting improvements and increasing opportunities for all people, celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. The Branch received its NAACP charter on May 17, 1979. Since its inception, it has focused on bettering its community and providing scholarships to youth.

This year, NAACP Illinois State Conference President Teresa Haley is the Chicago Far-South Suburban Branch Annual Freedom Fund Dinner’s keynote speaker. The NAACP-CFSSB will host this year’s event on Sunday, May 19, 2019, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Glenwood Oaks Banquet Hall, 106 N. Main St. in Glenwood, Illinois. We will also honor outstanding community members and leaders Attorney Chief Counsel Aneel L. Chablani of the Chicago Lawyer’s Committee for Civil Rights and School District 215 board member Sheryl Black. Lady Sax, a genius with the saxophone, will provide entertainment for the guests.

The NAACP-CFSSB needs to continue NAACP’s important work locally. To do so the organization depends on donations and its main fundraiser – the Freedom Fund Dinner. This is the year’s most important fundraiser, as proceeds allow the NAACP Chicago Far-South Suburban Branch to continue to advocate for civil rights in the community. To be effective in this resolve, they need the public’s support.

This year special sponsorship packages were created to allow the esteemed guests to support this important cause. Donations are $50 per person. The mission can also be supported by individuals becoming a Freedom Sponsor or promoting your business or interest, as well as by purchasing an ad in the Program Ad Book. The deadline for ad responses is Saturday, May 11, 2019.

The public is invited to attend the 2019 Freedom Fund Dinner. It is also an opportunity to contribute to the conversation and hear from the nation’s leading policymakers, activists, and organizers.
