Gary Businessman, Omar Tadros honors Gary students

Ten Gary Community School Corp. honor students were awarded $300 gift cards by Gary businessman OMAR TADROS.

Tadros contacted Indiana State Rep. Dr. Vernon G. Smith to request his assistance in organizing this event. Smith said Tadros is a rarity; he wanted to give back to this community that has been so supportive of his businesses. Tadros’ son, George, who is a 11th grade honor student in Crown Point, spoke to the students and encouraged them to continue doing well in their academic pursuits. Smith thanked Tadros for allowing him to organize this event and congratulated all of the honor students.

The students that received gift cards were Dovovan Hope-Browder, Bailly Preparatory Academy; Jailah Smith, Benjamin Banneker Achievement Center; Shaniyah Hearst, Beveridge elementary school; Madison Moses, Glen Park Academy; Rashel Carswell, Jacques Marquette Elementary School; Kamelah Freeman and Mikayla Sanders, Frankie Mccullough Girls Academy; Kori Stout, Daniel Hale Williams Elementary School; Kelechi Green; Wirt-Emerson Visual and Performing Arts High Ability Academy; and Jazmin Green, West Side Leadership Academy.

Photographed at the awards event are Omar Tadros, George Tadros, Dr. Peggy Hinckley, four of the awardees, and Indiana State Rep. Dr. Vernon G. Smith.
