2ND FREE KIDS RADIO/TV

Radio personality Dinahlynn Biggs of WOSD Radio in Chicago, and affiliates, are set to host the 2nd Free Kids Radio/TV Summer Camp in the Gary/Chicagoland area with over 100 children slated to attend. The event at The Hiding Place Banquet Facility, 4950 Broadway in Gary, is Saturday, August 17, 2019, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

There will be performances and musical workshops designed for kids to explore all areas of music, radio, video, producing, news reporting, TV and more. Professionals and celebrities from Chicago and across the country will donate their time as panelists to the young people.

Keith Jackson, cousin to Michael Jackson, and his band Triple Dose will be on hand along with members of the legendary group Jobie Thomas “Enchantment.” Several radio station personalities will also be on hand to showcase DJ skills, news reporting and more.

Lunch will be served with trophies and gifts for the kids. The one-day Summer Camp is designed to inspire kids to visualize that there are many career paths waiting to be discovered.

Parents are welcome to attend, and slots are limited. Several area daycares are scheduled to attend.

To date parents have signed up children from as far away as Ohio.

Many area businesses have jump- ed on board to assist. Owner Quiana Thomas of the Hiding Place Banquet Facility has donated the 300 plus person venue for the Summer Camp. Over 100 camp tee shirts are being donated by fashion designer Creme De LEE Creme.

Some workshops will be demonstrated by legendary recording artists who have traveled to donate their time to the youth. Last year Chicago recording artist TL Williams with Chi-Sound Record label owners were on hand for the kids.

Organizers say it is a blessing when communities near and far come together. Photos are from last year’s camp.
