Woman Inspires Vegan Takeover at the “Taste of Chicago”

Vegan Chef Maisha Wynn to be Featured July 12

All it took was the survival of a brain aneurysm and a strong warning from her doctor for Maisha Wynn to jump-start her weight loss journey with an immediate migration to a vegan lifestyle three years ago.

“The doctor didn’t have to tell me twice,” says Wynn who is now a Vegan chef, author and more than 120 pounds lighter. “My life depended on me making some serious lifestyle changes.”

Maisha 0Wynn says she is “WYNNING,” and has made her healthy lifestyle into a movement by sharing her story and recipes with all who will listen. On July 12th, she will have the perfect platform where thousands will get the opportunity to witness her culinary skills at The Taste of Chicago.

Wynn has been selected as the first vegan chef and African-American female to open at 11:30 a.m. and close at 5:30 p.m. at the 39th Annual Taste of Chicago, the world’s largest food festival. Her appearance will feature cooking demonstrations at the Lifeway Foods Taste Kitchen, a space where celebrity and noted local chefs prepare their signature dishes while inspiring their followers to create their own culinary masterpieces at home.

“As an overcomer and thriver who is truly living abundantly, I’m super excited to be a part of the Taste of Chicago making ‘HER-STORY’ by showing the world what is possible when you embrace a plant-based lifestyle,” said Wynn. “Cooking yummy vegan dishes has truly become my passion, so my dream and reality have become one in the same.”

Wynn recognizes that this opportunity is rare and does not take the assignment lightly.

“There will be thousands gathered in Grant Park to feast on the best of Chicago’s culinary offerings, and I was chosen to represent a growing population of vegans and vegetarians. That’s huge!” said Wynn.

In addition to Lifeway Foods, other sponsors of Wynn’s appearance include Cuisinart and Miyoko’s Kitchen.

In preparation for her July 12th appearance, Wynn is looking to do cooking demonstrations and conduct media interviews to shed light on the benefits of a vegan lifestyle and plant-based diet.
