Wilson to present and update hundreds on Bill headed to Springfield
Dr. Willie Wilson will be joined by other community leaders and state legislators for a ‘Reparations Rally’ to update supporters and provide a status report of the Wilson- backed reparations legislation – The Illinois State Community Commission on Reparations Remedies for the People of African Descendant-Citizens in the State of Illinois Bill – that is on its way to Springfield.
WHEN: Saturday – February 8, 2020 | 1:30pm
WHERE: Holy Temple Cathedral | 15912 S. Lincoln Avenue | Harvey, IL 60426
WHY: Wilson refuses to believe America does not want to do the right thing. Over 50 years ago, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. stood tall for reparations. Today, Wilson is continuing that work in the spirit of Dr. King’s quote: “America has given [African American] people a bad check, a check which has come back marked insufficient funds. But we refuse to believe the bank of justice is bankrupt.” Wilson has used his own resources to sponsor this important Bill that will implement institutional infrastructures that will finally allow the African American community to overcome the effects of centuries of systematic discrimination. This Bill will “level the playing field” and give the descendants of African enslaved people a real chance at life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
