Operation Homefront Now Accepting Applications from Military Families
for New Transitional Home in Yorkville, Illinois
Operation Homefront, the national nonprofit whose mission is to build strong, stable, and secure military families, announced that it is now accepting applications from veterans and military families, for a newly-built transitional home in Yorkville, Illinois.
Through the Transitional Homes for Community Reintegration (THCR) Program, a veteran – within 12 months of discharge and who has served honorably – and his/her family, will receive temporary rent-free housing, financial education, and support services as they transition to the civilian community. The family will work with a caseworker and financial counselor to create realistic financial, educational, employment, and personal goal plans. The two-to-three year-long program allows families to gain knowledge on the home buying process, work to improve credit scores, pay off debt, accumulate emergency savings, and establish ties to the community they reside in.
In Yorkville, the new two-story, single-family THCR home, features four bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, and is 2,458 square-feet. The home also features an open design and functional layout. The community is in a peaceful area with amenities for an active and healthy lifestyle with an on-site clubhouse and bike path.
The veteran must be willing to work towards self-sufficiency during this program. They will be required to pay a monthly fee, which will be refunded upon program graduation. Families will also be responsible for utility costs, while Operation Homefront will provide lawn care and landscaping.
Operation Homefront’s Transitional Homes for Community Reintegration program was made possible by the generous support of our corporate and foundation partners, who are committed to honoring our nation’s veterans and military families. The Yorkville home is the fourth location opened by Operation Homefront since August 2018, and the program will open four more THCR homes for application later this year.
