Thanks to senior guard Miranda Burt’s school record eight 3-pointers and a career-high 26 points, the 18th ranked University of Chicago Lady Maroons defeated Kenyon College 89-74 in the 2019 Midway Classic on Sunday (November 24). In addition to Burt’s game high 26 points, she would also finish 8-of-16 shooting from the field and 8-of-12 from behind the 3-point arc. This included three 3-pointers made in the final quarter.
Lady Maroons senior Taylor Lake added 15 points, nine rebounds, three steals and two blocks; Senior Mia Farrell had 12 points, five rebounds and three assists; Sophomore Klaire Steffens added 12 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two steals; and Sophomore Elizabeth Shaw contributed with 11 points on a perfect 4-of-4 shooting off the bench.
In addition to the team’s balance scoring attack, Freshman Grace Hynes added 11 rebounds and four steals. With the win, the Lady Maroons improved to 4-2 on the season and completed the Midway Classic with a 2-0 record.
