U Chicago men’s soccer team shutout Emory University 5-0 in opening of UAA Play

The sixth ranked University of Chicago Maroons men soccer team improved to 5-1-4 on the season after earning a 5-0 victory over Emory University on Saturday afternoon.

Saturday’s game by the Maroons helped kick off the University Athletic Association (UAA) league play.

The Eagles dropped to 5-4-1 after the loss.

The Maroons scored in their 43rd minute of the game after Bryce Millington managed to get a rebound header that went into the net for his team-high fourth goal of the season.

In the second half, the Maroons continued their momentum after scoring a second goal with less than a minute left, giving their team a 2-0 lead.

At the 52nd minute mark, the Maroons would score again this time on a goal by Michael Johnson, giving his team a 3-0 lead.

In addition to Johnson’s goal, two additional goals were scored by Maroons sophomore Jorge Franco at the 72nd minute mark and Peyton Lane to close the game with 30 seconds left.

Final Score: U Chicago 5, Emery U. 0.
