To highlight Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc.’s national mission and to recognize individuals that make an impact in the community in which they serve, the Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. (TLOD), Chicago Chapter is hosting its annual Orchid Awards. The gala will take place on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, at the Double Tree Hotel, 5000 West 127th Street in Alsip, Illinois starting at 6:00 p.m.
The theme is “Unmasks Excellence.” The awards gala will honor and recognize individuals that provide service in the areas of community partnerships and youth and adults. The TLOD Chicago Chapter has recognized outstanding individuals for their contributions to the community since 1988. The list of honorees include: Attorney Sam Adams, Jr., Patricia A. Bearden, the Reverend Wanzette Ann Bibrew, Pamela Blackman, Norman Bolden, Pamela Clanton, Dr. Kyra Payne and the Reverend Dr. Sanja R. Stinson. The chapter also recognized a member of the chapter that provides outstanding support and service. Lady Mildred Holifield will be honored as the 2017 Top Lady of the Year.
“We are continuing to follow the national programs and projects that have expanded since our chartering in 1974,” stated Barbara Wyatt, one of the charter members of the TLOD Chicago Chapter. “We [Chicago Chapter] have been able to enhance the lives of youth and adults. This awards ceremony is just one that honors other individuals that provide service that align with program and projects.”
The Chicago Chapter was organized in 1974 with seven charter members. TLOD is a national public service organization that supports youth and adults in the areas of education, senior citizens, status of women, community beautification and community partnerships.
