Ingalls Development Foundation Hosts 2018 Cancer Awareness Fundraiser

Thornton Township Clerk Jacqueline Rivera served as host and model for the Ingalls Development Foundation 20th Annual Fall Fashion Show. Rivera is also the “poster girl” for University of Chicago Ingalls Development Foundation. Per Rivera, over 400 people were in attendance at the event held October 2018 at the Odyssey Country Club, located in Tinley Park, IL.

Rivera, a cancer survivor told the crowd, “In 2016, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Women should go get a mammogram. Early detection is so very important. I am grateful that I am a Stage Zero. The Lord is taking care of me. Cancer does not have to be a death sentence. Take care of your body and DO NOT miss your doctor appointments. We have gifted doctors to help us. Get your physical exams. Get your mammograms. Men also need to get their medical examinations.”

“I just want to encourage people to look out for each other. Help and share with one another. Love one another,” said Rivera to a large audience.

In Year 2003, Thornton Township Supervisor Frank M. Zuccarelli appointed Rivera to the Board of Trustees, where she served for 2 years. In Year 2005, for 13 years, she was elected as township Clerk.
