THE SOUTH SHORE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MARKS 20TH ANNIVERSARY

The anniversary is distinguished with a recommitment to
economic justice & the celebration of creative entrepreneurs
that spur economic development

This year’s luminaries include: 5th Ward Alderman Leslie Hairston, Silver Room store owner and curator Eric Williams and designer/educator Norman Teague. The keynote speaker will be Melody Spann-Cooper, Chairman of Midway Broadcasting Corp.

The South Shore Chamber of Commerce (SSCC), recently, announced their 20th Anniversary reception, entitled, ‘Celebrating the Creative Entrepreneur’, which will take place on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, 6 PM at the Stony Island Arts Bank, 6760 S. Stony Island.

Since its inception, the SSCC has trained hundreds of entrepreneurs to sustain and grow their businesses and participate in customized job training and job placement programs for many of Chicago’s marginalized residents. Additionally, SSCC continues to align with strategic partners to develop more robust programming that offers technical support, access to capital, commercial corridor investment projects and advocacy around public policy issues.

“The South Shore Chamber has remained true to its mission of cultivating diverse business corridors throughout the community,” says Tonya Trice, SSCC Executive Director. “As we celebrate our 20th Anniversary we would like to honor the often overlooked entrepreneurs who’s artistic expressions contribute to the local economy and adds to the cultural identity to our community. This event will be a vibrant networking opportunity with top business leaders and elected officials committed to empowering the South Shore Community.”
