First Baptist Church of Gary, Indiana, located at 626 W. 21st Avenue, will celebrate its 117th anniversary on June 1st. The church was established in 1908, only two years after the founding of the city of Gary by Raymond Rankins, Samuel J. Duncan, and Samuel Clay. Dr. Elijah John Fisher, pastor of Chicago’s Olivet Baptist Church, was instrumental in establishing First Baptist Church of Gary. The speaker for the morning services will be the church’s new Pastor-Elect, Rev. Nicole P. Guns. We welcome the community.
