‘The Lion King’ continues through January 17

Award-wining musical breaks record for highest-grossing week in Chicago Theatrical history at the Cadillac Palace Theatre

Broadway In Chicago announced for the second consecutive week, Disney’s “The Lion King” broke a Chicago box office record – this time for the highest grossing nine-performance-week in Chicago theatrical history.

It grossed $2,356,724.00 for the week ending January 3, 2016 at the Cadillac Palace Theatre. “The Lion King” breaks the previous record set by Disney’s NEWSIES last year when that tour grossed $2,012,723 at the Oriental Theatre for nine performances for the week ending January 4, 2015. “The Lion King” continues performances in Chicago through Sunday, January 17, 2016 at the Cadillac Palace Theatre (151 W Randolph).

The North American touring productions of “The Lion King” have been seen by more than 17 million theatergoers and grossed over $1.2 billion to date.
