TBLA girls’ track team ranks top in the state

The Thea Bowman track team competed in their season opener at the De La Salle Institute Indoor Invitational in late February. The invitational consisted of 11 Indiana and Illinois schools.

Bowman walked away with the Team Title and won the following events: 55 meter dash (Emijah Davis), 200 meter dash (Emijah Davis), 4×200 meter relay (Emijah Davis, Jaylenn Williams, Diamond Washington, and Melody Jones) and the 4×400 meter relay.

Last week, Bowman took the Team Title at the Bishop Noll Invitational. There were 15 schools participating. Bowman won 1st and 2nd place in the 60 meter dash, 1st in the 400 meter dash, 1st in the 2nd place in the 60 meter hurdles. They also took 1st place in all relay races. This included the 4 x 800 meters, 4 x 400 and 2 x 200.

In the 1A through 3A ranking in the state of Indiana, the scholar athletes rank 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the 60 meter dash and number one in the 4 x 200 and number 2 in the 4 x 400 for girls.

The coaches responsible for preparing the TBLA athletes were Jerae Protho-Guider, Miles Tolliver, Deron Swain and Leroy Nelson.
