State Rep. Curtis Tarver charged with concealed gun violation

Illinois State Rep. Curtis Tarver of the 25th district was charged with having a gun without a valid concealed license after he was arrested on Monday.

Police said Tarver, 38 was stopped by officers who noticed he was driving with a broken headlight around 8:30 pm. They pulled him over in the 6400 block of Stony Island Avenue.

During the stop, officers discovered a handgun on him while learning his concealed-carry license was revoked. Tarver was arrested and charged with a misdemeanor count of failure to surrender a concealed carry license, police said.

Gun owners are required to surrender their firearms to local or state law enforcement agencies within 48 hours after their license is revoked.

Tarver was also cited for driving with a broken headlight. He is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 27.
