St. John Baptist Church celebrates its 99th Anniversary

St. John Baptist Church was founded in the city of Gary in 1918. From that time until this, it has remained a pillar in the Gary community––a place where “God’s Providence Preserves.” A three-day celebration will highlight the upcoming 99th year of “Serving the Peoples Between Sundays.” The public is invited to attend the Revival, Luncheon and Anniversary Services scheduled for September 19-24, 2017.

The celebration begins with Rev. Dr. Otis Moss, III, senior pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago as keynote speaker of the 2017 Fall Revival on Sept. 19-21, 2017 at the St. John Baptist Church, 2457 Massachusetts Street in Gary at 7:00 p.m. Music will be provided by a different St. John Choir each night starting Tuesday nights with the Male Choir, Wednesday with the Women’s Choir, and the last night with the Mass Choir.

The 99th Anniversary Luncheon Celebration “Fellowship In God’s Providence” will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at the Lake Etta Banquet Hall at 4801 W. 29th Avenue in Gary, IN at 2:00 p.m. with a Silent Auction. To attend the banquet there is a $25 cost. Tables seating 8 people are available for $200.

On Sunday, September 24, 2017 at 10:45 a.m. the 99th Anniversary Celebration culminates with a Worship Service delivered by St. John Baptist Church Senior Pastor, Rev. R. E. Robinson, MBA, and a final message during the 4:00 p.m. Worship Service by Rev. Dwight E. Mobley, Sr., pastor of the Van Buren Missionary Baptist Church.
