The Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture announced Monday it has reached the one million visitors milestone in under six months since it opened in Sept. 2016.

On average, visitors to the African American museum spend six hours or more there on weekends compared to other museums where people spend nearly two hours visiting, according to a release from the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

The museum has 11 exhibitions featuring 3,000 objects highlighting African American history.

During the museum’s opening week, officials offered 1,000 same-day passes to people to visit the museum.

According to the release, combined with the success of high visitor numbers, the museum’s restaurant, Sweet Home Cafe, was named as a semifinalist for the 2017 James Beard Foundation Awards for best new restaurant.
