Smith, Bizzell & Warner Funeral Home names new General Manager

By Carmen M. Woodson-Wray, Gary Crusader

Smith, Bizzell and Warner Funeral Home has named a new General Manager who hails from Detroit, Michigan. That person is June R. Williams.

Williams started with one of the company’s funeral homes in Detroit 16 years ago, but was eventually moved to Connecticut for six years to work with another one of their firms. She says she has been a licensed funeral director for 33 years. Currently her licenses are in Michigan, Connecticut and Illinois. She is waiting to take the license exam for the Indiana State Board. She said, “I can be the general manager without the Indiana license, but once I have the license then I’ll be a licensed Indiana Funeral Director.”

Williams says one thing she plans to bring to the Gary Smith, Bizzell and Warner Funeral Home will be more personalization to their funerals. “We want it so that every funeral will be more personal and not like your grandmother’s funeral. We want it to be based more on the individual. We are going to add that more personalized touch to it,” she said.

Seeing that Williams is from Detroit she decided to take on the Gary position because Smith, Bizzell and Warner no longer had a firm in Detroit. She said, “The Gary office brings me closer to home while I am the general manager for the Gary and Chicago locations.”

She said Smith, Bizzell and Warner Funeral Home supports the community. She said, “We are in the community and we have affordable arrangements for everyone.”
