WHAT: About Seaway’s Farmers Market

UntitledThe Seaway Farmers Market begins its 12th season on this Wednesday from 9am to 2pm at the Chatham Branch, located at 87th Street and Langley Avenue (Jacoby Dickens Way). The market will be open every Wednesday through September 21st, 2016 and will feature organic produce grown in Illinois by African-American Farmers from Pembroke Township. Customers will have the opportunity to have conversation with the farmers about nutrition and purchase an array of fresh tomatoes, greens, squash, peppers, peas, specialty teas, spices gourmet desserts and more.

 

WHEN: Wednesday, July 20th – Wednesday, September 21st 2016

9am – 2pm

WHERE: SEAWAY BANK AND TRUST COMPANY – 645 EAST 87TH STREET, CHICAGO, IL 60619

WHO: Opening day activities on July 20th will include a chef demonstration at 12:30 pm, a food truck visit and live music by saxophonist Traysee Leonard.

WHY: The purpose of the market it to provide fresh produce to the community and grown by African-American farmers from right here in Illinois. This event also allows community residents, businesses and other stakeholders to network and socialize at a positive community sponsored event.

The Seaway Farmers Market accepts LINK, debit and credit cards. Individual vendors may also accept FMNP and WIC coupons. While funds last, the Seaway Bank Farmers Market will also match LINK purchases of up to $20 per card holder, per market day. This means that LINK cardholders can double the value of the LINK purchases each week. To receive this great value customers can select their items, bring your LINK card to the Seaway Bank welcome tent at the market to receive your match.
