Saint John Church-Baptist celebrates 108 years of Missionary Work

Soon after the Civil War, the Missionary Baptist movement was formed with the same mission that is carried out by member churches today-the sharing of Christian evangelism at home and abroad. Lolline Pippins is the president of the mission board of St. John Church-Baptist. It has a large mission of approximately 70 members.

The Department of Missions of Saint John Church-Baptist located at 4821-35 S. Michigan Ave. in Chicago will celebrate its 108th anniversary on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. The public is invited to join members of Saint John Church as they recognize the occasion with an afternoon program featuring Minister Diretha Jennings from Saint John Baptist Temple.

“Arise Shine, and Grow: Walking in Faith” is the inspired theme Reverend Dr. James Dunn has encouraged the entire church to walk in for the last year, also encouraging the unchurched in their daily spiritual walk.
