Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr. is holding a 2:30 p.m. press conference Wednesday, June 22nd, at the South Shore Cultural Center, 7059 S. South Lake Shore Drive, to talk about resolutions to gun violence, prison reform, addressing voter rights violations and attacks on other social justice issues.

Rev. Jackson will be joined by clergy, labor, civic leaders, and supporters.

“We are appealing to elected officials to provide immediate relief from the soaring food and gas prices that are creating financial difficulties for millions in Chicago and beyond,” said Rev. Jackson.

“We are also making a moral appeal to release WNBA player Brittney Griner who is being held in Russia,” said Rev. Jackson.

Griner was arrested on February 17th for carrying hash vape cartridges in her luggage at the Moscow Airport. Rev. Jackson is sending a letter to President Biden about these issues.

Rev. Jackson is planning a southern get-out-to-vote tour this August. In commemoration of the 59th August 28th March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, Rev. Jackson is making a clarion call for voters to march to the polls during these midterm elections.

Today’s press conference culminates the Rainbow PUSH Coalition’s 56th annual international six-day conference. This year’s theme was “Make America Fair and Equal: PUSHing or New Markets n 2022.”
