Rep. Robin Kelly to Host Event to Discuss Pandemic Impacts on Working Women

Congresswoman Robin Kelly

On Monday, March 8, 2021 at 5:30 p.m. CST, Congresswoman Robin Kelly (IL-02) will host She-Cession: The Impact of a Pandemic Recession on Working Women. Congresswoman Kelly will be joined for this virtual panel discussion by Cherita Ellens, President and CEO of Women Employed, Karin Norington-Reaves, CEO of Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership, and Felicia Davis, President and CEO of Chicago Foundation for Women.

“Women made history last year working on the front lines fighting this pandemic while also taking care of children and families,” said Congresswoman Kelly. “However, we are also facing a she-cession. There are 2.3 million women no longer in the workforce since the start of the pandemic – a 33-year low in women’s labor force participation. I have asked Cherita, Karin, and Felicia, each an expert on women in the workforce, to join me for this event to discuss what we should be doing to ensure that we turn this trend around and get women back to work.”
