Ravinia Festival is still a great concert ticket

By Elaine Hegwood Bowen, M.S.J.

Lionel Richie, Buddy Guy and Rick Springfield have been the recent acts for this year’s Ravinia Festival lineup. And the world-class acts just get better.

Tony Bennett, Sugarland and T.I. Have future concerts, and Michael McDonald—appearing with Chicago native Chaka Khan—are set for the venue on July 6. The alluring Maxwell is set to perform on July 9, and another Chicago native Jennifer Hudson will grace festival patrons with her hits on July 14. Don’t forget a crowd favorite Mary J. Blige on September 13.

These are just a few of the artists who will perform at the venue this season, which ends on September 14.

Ravinia is located in Highland Park on the North Shore, with easy access from the Edens Expressway. The best way to travel there from the South Side is by Metra. The trains going back into the city are coordinated to leave the station about 15 minutes after the concert ends.

This is not an all-inclusive list of Ravinia Festival acts, which can be enjoyed in the pavilion or in lawn seats (where people can enjoy good food, drinks and community within a picnic setting). For those who would rather purchase their food on the premises, Ravinia features the Lawn Bar, Ravinia Market, 847 Burger, Pizza Classico and Smokehouse 1904, which offer a variety of food options to please all palettes.

More information about artists, prices and performance dates, as well as the dining options available at the venue, located at 200 Ravinia Park Road, Highland Park, IL, can be obtained here www.ravinia.org.
