Rainbow PUSH makes good its commitment to fly goods to Puerto Rico

Making good on his commitment to help fly donated goods to Puerto Rico severely damaged by Hurricane Maria, Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr. is holding a 1:30 p.m. press conference Tuesday, October 3, at the Puerto Rican Parade office, 1237 N. California, along with elected officials and supporters to unveil the details of his successful negotiations.

“Rainbow PUSH has a commitment from an airline to fly the goods to San Juan, Puerto Rico,” said Rev. Jackson. “We pray that the U.S. military will use its helicopters to get the donations to the most remote areas. In the meantime,” Rev. Jackson added, “Puerto Rico needs financial donations and goods.”

Joining Rev. Jackson will be Rep. Luis Arroyo (D-3). “We collected 12 semi-truck loads of equipment,” said Rep. Arroyo. “The people of Chicago supported the Puerto Rican community. The relief drive has been huge, an enormous success. We thank Rev. Jackson for his assistance.”
